License and IT cost review

Inventory of licences and subscriptions compared with actual use, with open-source alternatives ranked by return on investment, for predictable costs (FinOps).

Licences, subscriptions and support contracts pile up and renew by default, while nobody knows what is actually used.

The licence and IT cost review establishes exactly what your organization pays: software licences, cloud subscriptions, support and maintenance contracts. NEXTBIT matches this spending against actual usage measured on your systems, then identifies unused licences, duplicates and restrictive clauses. For each significant item, we propose alternatives, including open source, ranked by return on investment and level of risk. You receive a costed report that guides your renewal or migration decisions.

What we do

  • Collection of contracts, invoices and renewal dates for licences and subscriptions
  • Measurement of actual usage: active accounts, servers, processors and features really in use
  • Identification of unused licences, duplicates and gaps against purchased entitlements
  • Analysis of contract clauses: price revisions, commitment period, exit terms
  • Costed alternatives, open source or commercial, ranked by return on investment and risk

Frequently asked questions

Do you need access to our systems?

Read-only access is enough, usually through exports or inventory tools that your teams run themselves. We do not change any configuration. The data collected is used only for the review and handled confidentially, under a non-disclosure agreement signed before the work begins.

Can you guarantee a level of savings?

No, and we put forward no figure before measuring. The outcome depends on your contracts, your usage and the constraints of your business. The report costs each option from your actual data, with its implementation cost and risks, so the decision remains yours.

Do we have to move to open source?

No. Part of the gains often comes from simple actions: removing unused licences, adjusting a support level, renegotiating before a renewal date. Migration to an open-source solution is proposed when its total cost and risk are favourable, always with a pilot before any cutover.
