Backup and continuity

Ransomware-resistant immutable backups, recovery site, tested continuity plans.

Backups that have never been restored and are reachable from the network: in a ransomware attack, they may be encrypted along with everything else.

A backup is only worth something if it can be restored, including after an attack. NEXTBIT sets up immutable backups, isolated from the production network and protected against deletion, with several copies including one off-site. We design the recovery site, define recovery objectives for each application with you and write practical continuity plans. Above all, we test: real restores, failover exercises and measurement of the recovery times achieved, recorded in a report your executives can read.

What we do

  • Review of existing backups: scope, frequency, retention, isolation and past successful restores.
  • Immutable backups on locked storage, out of reach of everyday administrator accounts.
  • Design and setup of a recovery site suited to your critical applications.
  • Continuity and recovery plan: roles, priorities, procedures and emergency contacts.
  • Real restore tests and regular failover exercises, with a written report.

Our approach

  1. 01

    Diagnostic

Backup review, identification of critical applications and a first real restore test.

  2. 02

    Design

Recovery objectives per application, immutable backup architecture and recovery site.

  3. 03

    Pilot

Protection and full restore of one critical application, measured against the agreed objectives.

  4. 04

    Rollout and exercises

Extension to other systems, written plans, regular exercises and training of your teams.

What you gain

  • Copies that ransomware can neither encrypt nor erase.
  • A known restore time, measured in real tests.
  • Teams that know what to do on the day of an incident.
  • Recovery priorities agreed in advance with business units.

Frequently asked questions

What is an immutable backup?

It is a copy that cannot be modified or deleted for a defined period, even by an administrator. The lock is enforced by the storage itself. An attacker who takes over your accounts therefore cannot erase these copies before encrypting your systems.

We already have backups. Why test them?

Because a backup that has never been restored remains an assumption. Tests often reveal missing files, forgotten dependencies or restore times longer than expected. We actually restore your systems in an isolated environment and record the time achieved.

Do we need a second data centre for the recovery site?

Not necessarily. Depending on your recovery objectives, the site can be a secondary room, hosting with a provider in Algeria or a sovereign cloud. We compare these options by cost, target recovery time and the location constraints on your data.
