IT master plan

Maturity and digital sovereignty assessment, inventory of systems and data, target architecture and a costed roadmap.

IT projects follow one another with no overall vision: redundant applications, scattered data and budgets decided case by case.

An IT master plan sets where your information system is heading over the coming years, and in what order. NEXTBIT starts from a factual assessment: an inventory of applications, infrastructure, data and contracts, and a measure of maturity and of dependence on vendors. We then design a target architecture with your teams, followed by a prioritized, costed roadmap broken down into achievable projects. You use the document to decide, to budget and to launch tenders.

What we do

  • Inventory of applications, servers, databases, licences and current contracts
  • Interviews with business departments to gather needs and day-to-day difficulties
  • Assessment of the information system's maturity, security and digital sovereignty
  • Target architecture design: applications, data, infrastructure and interconnections
  • Prioritized, costed roadmap broken down into projects with dependencies and owners

Our approach

  1. 01

    Assessment

Inventory of systems, data and costs, interviews with business units and the IT team, baseline of the current situation.

  2. 02

    Target architecture

Evolution scenarios compared on cost, risk and vendor dependence, then a choice approved by management.

  3. 03

    Roadmap

Prioritized, costed projects organized in waves, each with its prerequisites and success criteria.

  4. 04

    Presentation and handover

Presentation to decision-makers, documents reusable for tenders, and support for the internal team in steering implementation.

What you gain

  • Investments decided on facts, not case by case
  • A clear multi-year budget you can defend before management
  • Fewer duplicate applications and less vendor dependence
  • A direct basis for writing specifications

Frequently asked questions

Is our organization too small for an IT master plan?

No. The scope and level of detail adapt to the size of the organization. For a smaller structure, the master plan can fit in a few short documents: a current-state report, a target and a list of prioritized projects. What matters is having a written path before committing spending.

Do you always recommend open-source solutions?

No. We recommend what serves your interests. Open-source solutions are considered every time, because they often reduce dependence and make costs more predictable, but they are compared fairly with commercial solutions on total cost, available skills and risk.

What happens once the master plan is delivered?

The document is yours and can be implemented by your teams or by other providers. NEXTBIT can also support you: writing specifications, overseeing projects, or reviewing the roadmap periodically to adjust it to new decisions and constraints.
